Duties
  • Reviews decisions on civil and juvenile cases appealed from lower courts. The court may also decide not to review cases.

  • The court has administrative control over the State Bar of Texas and is the sole authority for licensing attorneys in Texas.

Note: civil law deals with behavior that injures an individual or other private party, such as a corporation. Examples include libel, breach of contract, property damage, and negligence resulting in injury or death.
